Spikey Tee started DJ-ing in 1985, playing sound systems at house parties and warehouse gigs in and around London. This was followed by a natural progression from turntables to the studio with avant-garde band “The Sindecut” and as the front-man of Jah Wobble’s Invaders Of The Heart, he brought a real edge to their live performances. All the while Spikey continued to DJ, mixing hip-hop, R&B, ragga, and drum ‘n’ bass. Not content to rest on his laurels, Spikey also made hit tunes for numerous producers, most notably with top-20 UK hit “Dark Heart”, recorded for Bomb The Bass, and “Paper Soldier” for Manasseh. To date he has had collaborations with Mr. Scruff, Tony D, Morcheeba, Rae and Christian, Massive Attack, Tim Simenon, The Freestylers, Dual Control, Million Dan (on The Freestylers’ “Raw as F**k” label), Craig Dodd (recent Island Records signing), Australian Band Resin Dogs, while an appearance on DJ Hype’s Ganja label will mark his first vocal drum ‘n’ bass outing. In 1998 Spikey was asked to contribute to the Bee Gees tribute album, “Gotta Get A Message To You”, to celebrate 25 years as a group. He joined forces with Gwen Dickey to record the classic “Guilty” - no mean feat for an unsigned artist. Residing in Sydney, Australia, since 2004 Spikey has worked with a collective of Australia’s leading beat producers including the Resin Dogs, he is also currently working on colaborations with Agent Alvin, Ritual & Sola Rosa to name a few. Spikey will be joined by dancehall hiphop mash up local legends, Bass Bin Laden, Ms Butt, Tom Tom and visuals master Viddy Fiddler from Players Ball who will be busting out 2 sets of booty shaking hip hop and dancefloor DnB and Jungle. Papa Stylee from the Deep licks crew will be jamming with resident alcholic ShiKung for the early crew. Bassness guaranteed. |
